Pop’s Playground, otherwise known as Black, Coyle and McBride Playground, is a playground in the Kennsington neighborhood of Philadelphia. The park was in severe disrepair after being neglected for many years. Philadelphia Parks and Recreation set goals with the community to make the park and playground a destination in an ever changing neighborhood. With the redesign, a high priority was set on making it completely accessible to everyone. The redesign included a new playground, new sprayground, new plaza, redesigned basketball courts and making the park completely accessible. Stormwater Management and design was also resolved in the form of a new rain garden in partnership with the Philadelphia Water Department.
*This project was designed, managed and completed while at a previous firm.
